Lusaka City Hotels - ZambiaLusaka has become something of a boom town of late. New buildings are going up everywhere and many chain stores and shopping malls are springing up all over. The road development isn't keeping up, so peak hour traffic has become a problem. For many, this is the perfect example of what economic liberalisation has done for Zambia as a country. Well over 60% of its 2 million inhabitants are unemployed, yet there are surprisingly few beggars. Although petty theft occurs, most people try to make an honest living. The currency is Kwacha, no visa's are required for SA Passport holders, Malaria tablets are required and the climate in May - Sep is cool/dry, Oct - Nov hot/dry and Dec - Apr is the rainy season. |
